| Description | The Sparrows (and Wrens and other small birds) around your place will love this attractive and roomy home! Its dimensions are: Width at bottom 5”, 7-9/16” at eves. Height from floor to roof ridge is 9-1/2”, and the floor measures 9-1/2” x 5” providing more than 45 square inches of nesting space. Construction is of 3/8” Plywood with a floor of ½” Plywood, and roof of ½” rough sawn Cedar. We call it the Valley Farm Home because of the ‘aged look’ of the flame charred outside walls – and especially because of the lovely ‘front porch’ with Hardwood posts and rails and Bamboo spindles. Your bird friends will love sitting on the top rail chatting with neighbor birds – before entering their home through the 1-3/4” entranceway hole. Another example of our traditional use of excellent material for our Sparrow houses is the Indonesian Hardwood roof ridge ‘timber’ used here. It serves to indicate that the house is strong and well built, and the finished Cedar strips on the roof give the snug and weather proof look that a good farmhouse should have. A lovely nesting place for generations of Sparrow families – as well as a very attractive accent to your back yard or patio décor! |
